Announcement Ceremony Of the Chinese Railroad Workers Monument

You are cordially invited to attend an announcement ceremony of the Chinese Railroad Workers Monument: A Golden Spike Project. This also officially kicks off the year-long events of the 150^th Golden Spike celebration and efforts of restoring the Historical Chinatown in downtown Salt Lake City by local Chinese community.

You will witness this historical moment, learn an important piece of Salt Lake City history, hear stories of Chinese immigrants in Salt Lake City over 100 years ago, explore photo exhibition of the old Chinatown, enjoy cultural performances, and taste some delicious Chinese food. • Time: 5:30pm-7:30pm, Wednesday Oct 10, 2018 (5:30-6:00pm Voter registration and “meet and greet” with candidates; 6:00pm program starts)

Invited speakers include: Mayor of Salt Lake City Jackie Biskupski; Utah State Senator Peter Knudson; Descendant of Railroad Worker and Candidate for Utah House Representative Man Hung; and Utah Chinese Golden Spike Celebration Committee Chair Bill Jiang.

This event is organized by the Utah Chinese Golden Spike Celebration Committee (UCGSCC). UCGSCC is a community-based inclusive group in collaboration with many communities in Utah and across the country. Our goals are to: commemorate merits of the Chinese pioneers during the construction of the Transcontinental Railroad and celebrate contribution of contemporary Chinese Americans to the economic development of the US; strive for safeguarding the rights of today’s Chinese Americans and their future generations in the US; promote the consensus of Chinese Americans in the US to work hard for better US economic development and social progress.

本次活动由“犹他华人纪念州际铁路贯通系列活动组委会”（简称“华人金钉组委会”）组织。“华人金钉组委会”是一个以社区为基础的包容性团体，与犹他州和全国各地的许多社区合作。 我们的宗旨是：1. 纪念并向社会各界宣讲华人先驱为建设美国太平洋铁路所立的功勋、当代华人移民为美国经济发展所做的贡献；2. 争取、维护今天的在美华人和明天的华人后代合法平等的权利；3. 凝聚在美华人共识、更好地为美国经济发展和社会进步而努力。
